53,000 square-foot center will significantly expand cancer care services in Central Oregon

REDMOND, OR – Skanska, a leading global construction and development firm, broke ground on the new St. Charles Cancer Center in Redmond, Oregon on Wednesday, June 26. The significant milestone marked the start of the construction of a new 53,000 square-foot project that will significantly expand cancer care services throughout Central Oregon. At nine times the size of the current facility in Redmond, the new St. Charles Cancer Center will serve more than 300 patients per day providing radiation oncology, chemotherapy infusion, surgical oncology, expanded support services and much more.
Once complete, new construction will include 5,000 square-foot chemotherapy infusion site with mountain views, a linear accelerator to provide radiation oncology treatments and space for nutrition, massage, acupuncture and other support services. The Center will also include space for additional outpatient services.
“We are honored to work with St. Charles to bring this world-class cancer center to Central Oregon,” said Todd Predmore, Senior Vice President-Account Manager for Skanska USA Building in Oregon. “Cancer affects so many lives and being part of this project is deeply meaningful to us. As we move forward with construction, we are taking significant steps towards expanding health care services in Redmond and the surrounding communities. Skanska is thankful for more than 20 years of partnership with St. Charles Health System and remains committed to propelling forward their vision of 'creating America’s healthiest community, together.'”
To celebrate the milestone, stakeholders gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony, featuring remarks from Dr. Steve Gordon, President and CEO of St. Charles Health, Dr. Linyee Chang, Medical Director of Cancer Services, Mari Shay, Chief Nursing Officer and Service Line Administrator for Cancer Services, and Jon Bullock, St. Charles Board Member and longtime Redmond resident. Following the remarks, key members from St. Charles and the surrounding community were invited to a “shovel ceremony” to break ground, officially marking the commencement of construction.
Construction is expected to be complete in March 2026.
