A virtual program launched and key takeaways for M/W/DBEs to navigate COVID-19

Since 2006, our Construction Management Building Blocks® program (CMBB) has played an integral role in helping minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprise (M/W/DBE) subcontractors build stronger businesses. More than 600 firms have graduated from our free training program that covers topics ranging from construction accounting to Lean practices. The success of our CMBB program over the years led to the launch of our Executive CMBB program in 2016, which is designed for “C-Suite to C-Suite” relationship building and knowledge sharing between Skanska and MBEs. This year, our Executive CMBB program went virtual and focused on addressing the specific challenges that participants are experiencing due to the pandemic.

On July 10, the Executive CMBB sessions kicked off and featured C-suite representatives from 12 different companies across the Southeast. For five weeks, company leaders attended these two-hour virtual roundtable sessions that were led by Skanska leadership. The majority of Executive CMBB participants are currently Skanska partners or protégés (individuals working on one of our projects or who have a Skanska mentor). Not only did this program accelerate the relationship building and trust with M/W/DBE business leaders, but participants left our sessions with tools they can now leverage to run their businesses successfully through the COVID-19 pandemic.

After the successful completion of this program in the Southeast, we're launching it nationally in 2021. Stay tuned for more information.
