Get ready for inspired energy in Bellevue: The Eight is under construction
We’re bringing excitement back to Bellevue, Washington with construction of the city’s first speculative office building to be developed in six years. Last week, our Seattle team broke ground at the future home of The Eight, a 25-story, Class A+ Office Tower.
“Offices should be special and inviting. Flexibility, healthy spaces, advanced technology, convenience—these are all important to the modern workforce,” said Robert Ward, President and CEO, Skanska USA Commercial Development. “After months of creating a thoughtful, community and tenant-focused design, we formally began construction of The Eight. This will be our second development in Bellevue. It’s an exciting project for all of us at Skanska. Our local team has put significant effort into creating a space reflective of the vibrant Pacific Northwest that is just as distinct and sophisticated as Bellevue.”
For 75 years we’ve lived and worked in the Puget Sound region, and The Eight’s sophisticated design and amenities are motivated by our local team’s desire to serve the community and create something for everyone.
“We love partnering with our Commercial Development colleagues, along with a great team of consultants and subcontractors, which allows us to deliver a unique project like The Eight,” said Kevin McCain, Executive Vice President and General Manager, Skanska USA Building in Seattle. “After bringing the vision for 2+U to life in downtown Seattle, we are excited to go to Bellevue to create another iconic office tower in our community.”
A lively, welcoming space for everyone
Inspired by Bellevue’s thriving neighborhoods, The Eight will be a welcoming space in the heart of downtown. Featuring 11,000 square-feet of ground level retail as well as a stand-alone retail pavilion and plaza landscaped with native Pacific Northwest plants, the building will flow with the pedestrian, urban and community framework. A public indoor/outdoor living room will invite everyone to enjoy a cup of coffee in a comfortable space or reenergize outdoors while brainstorming alongside colleagues.
Designed for today’s workforce
“The Eight is designed for companies interested in leveraging their brand to grow, expand, and attract the country’s top talent. Skanska is focused on delivering an incredible building for Bellevue with amenities our tenants and community desire most – one that is focused on health and wellness from the ground floor to the top of the tower,” said Murphy McCullough, Executive Vice President for Skanska USA Commercial Development’s Seattle market.
The Eight will deliver a rich tenant experience, with landscaped decks at level two and on the rooftop, multiple, alternating indoor/outdoor balconies, event and conference space, as well as modern amenities like a fitness center. Its design provides large floor plates and flexible workspaces with plenty of natural daylight. Targeting WiredScore Platinum certification, tenants will have a fully connected building and reliable technology that has space to evolve.
Health and wellness take center stage at the Eight. Along with light-filled office space and multiple opportunities to get outside, the office tower will feature touchless technology and 100 percent fresh air ventilation with bi-polar ionization in common areas. With a focus on sustainable design, construction and operations, the project is targeting LEED® Platinum, Wired Platinum, and Fitwel certifications.
Located at the intersection of Northeast 8th Street and 108th Avenue Northeast, The Eight is centrally located, accessible and eco-friendly. With 128 bike stalls, car charging stations in the underground parking garage, easy freeway access and a planned light rail station just a 5-minute walk away, no matter what option they choose, our tenants will never be inconvenienced.
With construction underway, we look forward to sharing future milestones and celebrating project completion with the Bellevue community in 2023. Learn more about what The Eight has to offer: https://theeightbellevue.com/
