Skanska Readies Hudson River Pier for USS Intrepid’s Return

A countdown clock at Pier 86 in Hudson River Park is ticking off the days until Thursday, October 2, when the newly restored aircraft carrier USS Intrepid will return in the early afternoon to its rebuilt home on the Hudson River.

Skanska has been entirely rebuilding Pier 86 (on the west side of Manhattan, at 12th Avenue and 46th Street) into a state-of-the-art “military-style” pier facility from the riverbed up. Skanska is working under contract to the Hudson River Park Trust through funding secured by the Intrepid Museum.
