Skanska Promotes Rivera to EHS Director

Press release 2/19/2014 3:22 PM EST

Skanska USA’s civil construction unit announced today that Alex G Rivera has been promoted to the position of EHS Director for its Rocky Mountain District. He will report to both Skanska Senior Vice President Curtis Broughton and Skanska EHS Director Clark Peterson, who oversees EHS for Skanska’s entire western region. Rivera will be based in Skanska’s Phoenix office.

Rivera has been with Skanska since 2004. In his tenure with the firm, Rivera has become an integral part of the Skanska’s western safety department. His experience is as varied as Skanska’s work in the region, including highway, transit, heavy rail, water/wastewater, and environmental reclamation projects. Rivera was instrumental in the implementation of Skanska’s USA Civil’s Safety Health Environmental Management System and has trained more than 2,000 employees in safety and health topics.

“Alex lives our safety mission and he has a tremendous passion for ensuring construction is conducted safely and without environmental incident,” Broughton said. “I’m excited for him to get to work on our sites throughout the Rocky Mountain region and Southwest, making sure every employee goes home the same way they came to work.”

Rivera is a native of San Bernardino County, Calif. and graduated from Colton (Calif.) High School. Alex and his wife, Andria have three children.
