The Bayou City’s most sustainable address for business is now more than 50% leased
HOUSTON, TX – Skanska, a global leader in development and construction, today announced the signing of a 13-year lease agreement with Hicks Johnson PLLC at Houston’s 1550 on the Green. The recently completed, Class A trophy tower spans 28 stories and 375,000 square feet. It is located at 1550 Lamar Street in the increasingly sought-after eastern end of Downtown Houston, steps from acclaimed Discovery Green park and the George R. Brown Convention Center, and within easy access of key area business and leisure destinations.
The Houston-based litigation and arbitration law firm will occupy nearly 21,000 square feet of space and are slated to begin occupancy in late 2025.
"We are delighted to have secured this exceptional office space as the next home for our firm. The strategic location and modern facilities reflect our commitment to providing top-tier service to our clients, while also fostering a vibrant and collaborative atmosphere for our team. This lease represents our continued growth and dedication to advancing our firm's mission and goals,” said Andy Hicks, Managing Partner of Hicks Johnson PLLC.
Less than six months after its unveiling, one of Houston’s greenest office towers is now nearly 54% leased, highlighting the market area’s demand for premium space. Hicks Johnson joins tenants that include the building’s anchor, international law firm Norton Rose Fulbright, which began moving in this summer, along with global management consulting firm, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), taking occupancy during the fourth quarter of 2025.
"We look forward to welcoming the Hicks Johnson team to 1550 on the Green. This remarkable building was designed with the employee experience as a priority, making it a perfect fit for today’s forward-thinking companies," said Matt Damborsky, executive vice president for Skanska USA Commercial Development in Houston. "With premium ground floor food and beverage offerings on the way, we’re excited to add to the vibrancy of this popular downtown neighborhood."
Recognized as one of Houston’s most sustainable, and healthiest, office buildings, 1550 on the Green has achieved LEED® Platinum V4, and is pursuing WELL Platinum, WiredScore® Platinum, and Fitwel® certifications. Skanska used its Embodied Carbon in Construction Calculator (EC3), a tool that helps estimate and minimize embodied carbon in building materials, to reduce climate emissions from materials used by approximately 45% on this project.
Building highlights include efficient floorplates using a 60’ x 60’ space planning module and featuring an abundance of natural light, panoramic views of Discovery Green, a dedicated building concierge and visitor management system, plus premium tenant lifestyle offerings such as a 7,000-square-foot fitness center with tenant lounge and flex space for group classes or private trainers and a 9,400-square-foot penthouse function and conference space. Tenants can also enjoy bike storage and direct access to the Lamar Bike Trail.
Inquiries for remaining office space may be directed to Tyler Garrett and Chrissy Wilson of JLL, and retail to Lindsey McKean of SHOP Companies.
Showcasing a market-leading commitment to sustainability and technology, Skanska has successfully delivered over 2.1 million square feet of Class A office development in Greater Houston with acclaimed projects that include 3009 Post Oak Boulevard, West Memorial Place I and II, and Bank of America Tower, the first LEED v4 Platinum Core & Shell project in the United States.
