DURHAM, NC – Skanska, a leading global development and construction firm, has successfully completed the renovation and expansion of Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital in Rocky Mount, VA. The $13.4 million, 5,230-square-foot, two-story expansion more than doubles the hospital’s operating rooms and provides space for more complex procedures, enhancing healthcare services in the Rocky Mount community.
"Skanska has a long history with Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital and we are incredibly proud to have been part of this transformative project,” said Mark Balling, executive vice president responsible for Skanska’s North Carolina and Virginia building operations. “This project is a testament to our commitment to delivering quality healthcare infrastructure and improving the lives in the communities we serve.”
The project was completed in three phases to ensure uninterrupted hospital operations throughout the renovation and expansion process. In addition to operating rooms, the renovations include pre- and post-operation recovery rooms, sterile processing zones, a new pharmacy and compounding lab. These enforcements elevate the quality of care provided to patients and improve the working environment for hospital staff.
“We are so excited to complete this renovation and offer expanded services to our community,” said Carl Cline, vice president of Franklin Memorial. “Access to care is always a top need, and this project will allow us to increase access and offer world-class, specialized services right here in Rocky Mount. We appreciate all of Skanska’s work to make this a reality.”
