MCLEAN, VA – Skanska, a leading global development and construction firm, announced the completion of Heming, a new luxury mixed-use development at 1800 Chain Bridge Road in McLean, Virginia. The 28-story building includes 410 residential units, 38,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space, a three-level outdoor public plaza, and 2.5 levels of underground parking.
The construction of Heming is a testament to precision and expertise, with over 350 skilled trades dedicating 1.1 million hours to complete the development. The project utilized 2,700 tons of rebar (steel) and 37,000 cubic yards of concrete to bring the dynamic mixed-use property to life.
“We are excited to deliver this stunning project thanks to the unwavering commitment and meticulous work of our construction team,” said Dale Kopnitsky, general manager and executive vice president responsible for Skanska’s Washington D.C. building operations. “As the communities of Tysons and Mclean continue to grow, Skanska is honored to be part of the team transforming Scotts Run into a modern urban core.”
The residential tower’s 23,000 square feet of amenities include a luxury penthouse dining room on the top floor, co-working spaces, club and game rooms in the ‘glass box,’ a pet spa, an outdoor pool with cabanas, a community garden, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Heming’s tower amenities are complemented by a private street, Platform Avenue, and a 21,000 square foot outdoor public terraced plaza flanked by retail, The Levels, for neighborhood gatherings and special events.
“The summer’s active rental market brought a surge of interest from residents as well as local and national business,” said Mark Carroll, executive vice president of Skanska USA Commercial Development’s Washington D.C. operations. “The completion of Heming marks a substantial milestone for the Scotts Run Development and transitions this area of McLean and Tysons into a community that is navigable for pedestrians and cyclists.”
Heming is part of Scotts Run, a 6.5 million-square-foot mixed-use development located across the street from Metro’s McLean Silver Line station, the new Archer Hotel, and between Capital One and the Mitre office park. The site is minutes from the Capital Beltway, Dulles Toll Road and has multiple connections to McLean that provide ease of access in and out of Tysons.
