Skanska has, as part of a joint venture with R.J. Industries, Inc., signed a contract with NYC Department of Environmental Protection to build anaerobic digester facilities at Hunts Point Wastewater Treatment Plant in the Bronx, New York, USA. The total contract is worth USD $309M. Skanska’s share of the contract is worth USD $248M, which will be included in the US order bookings for the first quarter of 2022.
The contract includes the installation of four 3.2 million gallon, about 12 million liters, post-tensioned, cast-in-place concrete digesters. Work also includes the installation of cast-in-place concrete, gas room, control building, above ground digester feed pump station, guardhouse and walkway bridges. It also includes a number of systems works, site clearing and excavation and final landscaping.
Construction began in April 2022 and is scheduled for completion in March 2026.
