Press release 11/7/2019 4:00 AM EST

Skanska has, as part of a joint venture with ECCO III, signed a contract with the New York State Department of Transportation to improve commercial vehicle access to and from the Hunts Point Peninsula in the Bronx, New York City, USA. Skanska’s share of the contract is worth USD 290 M, about SEK 2.7 billion, which will be included in the US order bookings for the fourth quarter of 2019.

This project will reconfigure and improve several roadways to improve access for the 78,000 vehicles that travel to and from the Hunts Point Peninsula each day while delivering infrastructure upgrades to surrounding roads, ramps and bridges.

Skanska will also replace a pedestrian bridge and build a new shared-use path for pedestrians and bicyclists. This, together with the new access routes for commercial vehicles, will help improve safety for local motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists.

Construction is ongoing and will continue into 2023.

Skanska is one of the leading construction and development companies in USA, specializing in building construction, civil infrastructure and developing commercial properties in select U.S. markets. Skanska USA had sales of SEK 67 billion and about 9,000 employees in its operations in 2018.
