Skanska signs contract to build high school in Burien, Washington for $113.5 million

Skanska has signed a contract with Highline Public Schools in Burien, Washington to build a replacement high school. The contract value is $113.5 million which will be included in the US order bookings for the third quarter 2019.

Skanska will demolish the existing high school and build a new 237,797 square-foot replacement school, which will serve up to 1,500 students. The project includes general and specialty classrooms, a theater and black box drama classroom, career and technical education spaces, science classrooms, multiple gyms, and tennis courts. Improvements to the 13-acre site will include courtyards and recreational areas, new student pick-up and drop-off areas, bus loading and unloading, parking for staff, visitors and events, and off-site improvements to adjacent city streets.

Construction is underway. The project is scheduled for completion in June 2021.
