Johan Henriksson becomes President for Infrastructure Development and Magnus Eriksson replaces him as EVP for Project Development in North America

Skanska, one of the world’s leading construction and project development firms, announced new leadership for Skanska Infrastructure Development (Skanska ID) with the promotions of Johan Henriksson to Business Unit President and Magnus Eriksson to Executive Vice President for North America.

Skanska ID works on public infrastructure through Public Private Partnerships (P3s) in the United States, United Kingdom and Nordic Region. Skanska has delivered more than 30 successful P3 projects globally, focusing in three areas: transportation, including bridges, tunnels and airports; social infrastructure, such as hospitals and schools; and utilities, such as power generation stations.

Henriksson is currently the Executive Vice President for Skanska Infrastructure Development in the U.S. and has sophisticated knowledge in complex project development and finance. He previously served as CFO for Skanska Infrastructure Development AB where he was responsible for the accounting and reporting of the firm’s investments in concession companies worldwide. He was also CFO for Skanska USA’s Civil division where he managed over 100 people in the accounting and financing department and served as Business Unit President for Skanska Latin America, with the assignment to close down operations there. Henriksson also served as CFO for Skanska Sweden, one of Skanska’s key markets.

Henriksson will report to Mats Williamson, Executive Vice President, Skanska AB. He replaces Steve Sams who is scheduled to retire in January 2017.

“These promotions ensure a smooth transition and continuity of service during an exciting period of growth for Skanska ID as it expands its operations in the United States and around the world,” said Johan Karlström, President and CEO, Skanska AB.
“Our strategic focus on P3 reflects increasing interest in several markets for creative solutions to infrastructure challenges. Johan has extensive experience in both construction and project development and is a respected leader with a strong ethical compass. He is well versed in the financial aspects of the infrastructure business and has deep experience with international collaboration, both of which are essential to expand Skanska’s P3 business.”

Beginning on October 1st, Magnus Eriksson will fill Henriksson’s previous role as Executive Vice President of Infrastructure Development for North America. Currently Senior Vice President North America, Eriksson has been a key player in winning and delivering some of Skanska’s largest P3 projects such as the A1 motorway in Poland, the NKS hospital in Sweden, and LaGuardia Central Terminal B in New York. He has been with Skanska for 16 years, ten of those based in the U.S.

“We have a robust pipeline of projects in the U.S. market. Our diverse team of strong, capable individuals ensures that Skanska continues to stay on top and Magnus is well poised to lead this group,” says Henriksson. “He is one of our most experienced developers, a recognized leader with a solid understanding of the market and the Skanska ID organization.”

In May 2016, Skanska and its LaGuardia Gateway Partners team signed a lease agreement and achieved financing for the public private partnership redevelopment of LaGuardia Airport's Central Terminal B. In the U.S., Skanska has two other major P3 projects underway, the I-4 Ultimate Project in Orlando, which is currently the largest transportation project underway in Florida, and the Elizabeth River Tunnels project between Norfolk and Portsmouth Virginia.
