Skanska hires Margarita Irizarry as National Director of EEO & Affirmative Action

Skanska has announced the hire of Margarita Irizarry as Director Equal Employment Opportunities (EEO) and Affirmative Action.
Irizarry will be leading Skanska’s EEO/Affirmative Action team to support proactive national strategies to ensure Skanska’s EEO and affirmative action requirements are met and are aligned with the company’s business goals. She will lead a new approach in unifying all regional EEO/Affirmative Action leaders to create a national team. She will serve as a member of Skanska’s National Diversity and Inclusion Council, a group of company leaders that work to facilitate and foster a positive environment for all employees, clients and partners based on mutual respect, trust and communication.

“Margarita’s extensive experience will allow for us to harness the best practices from our EEO and affirmative action programs across the country as well as bring in those from outside industries,” said Tom Crane, chief human resources and communications officer of Skanska USA. “She will lead the way in establishing Skanska as a leader in diversity and inclusion for the construction industry.”

Irizarry brings more than 20 years of human resources experience to Skanska. She most recently served as senior manager, global EO compliance with Johnson & Johnson, where she developed more than 90 EEO and affirmative action programs in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

Irizarry holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Douglas Residence College of Rutgers University and a master’s degree in human resources & global management from the University of Phoenix.
She resides in Bloomingdale, NJ.
