Skanska was selected as the construction manager for the construction of a new middle school and new high school for the District School Board of Pasco County. The Charles S. Rushe Middle School was built concurrently with Sunlake High School on an 80-acre greenfield site in Pasco County. Extensive site work had to be performed before construction could begin and included bringing in 300,000 cubic yards of fill dirt to bring the site up to grade. There were also protected wetlands on site which need to be preserved while construction was performed and several retention ponds needed to be built. The 200,000-SF middle school consists of two single-story buildings and one, three-story building and the campus includes a running track, two baseball fields and practice fields.
