The Old Guard Monument at Joint Base Ft. Meyer Henderson Hall’s scope of work included proposed site design, sculpture, and two pavilions on an existing 1/3 acre open lawn site. The site design included new trees, hedges, and stone & masonry hardscape to access areas of importance. Minor demolition and grading occurred to incorporate elements of the design and adequately drain the components. The bronze sculpture, provided and installed by a third party, was placed on a circular granite base within a granite and brick paved plaza that occupies the center of the site. Three granite benches were placed at the north perimeter of the plaza. The two open-air pavilions act as the entrance to the site from the south. Proposed lighting and ornamental metalwork help accentuate elements of the design.
