Skanska is providing construction management services on the 60,000-SF historic rehabilitation of a 1904 commercial office building into a boutique hotel with more than 200 guestrooms. The project includes seismic structural upgrades and a new story inserted within the ground level floor, resulting in a nine-story hotel. Additionally, the hotel will include ground level retail. To overcome a tight schedule for such a large renovation, Skanska proactively worked with the structural engineer to create a unique phasing plan that allowed work to begin concurrently in both the lower levels and upper levels of the building. The project is expected to complete in the fall of 2017.
