Construction Management
We are a leading provider of world-class construction management services. With Skanska’s abiding commitment to client satisfaction, we are poised to deliver strategic partnerships and collaborative solutions throughout construction of your important project. Skanska’s expertise spans small renovations to billion-dollar programs. We serve a broad range of clients across the U.S., as well as in Puerto Rico and the U.K., representing such sectors as life sciences, healthcare, education, commercial/corporate office, aviation, government, retail, hospitality among other sectors.
General Contracting
Skanska builds a wide array of projects throughout the U.S. From $1 million projects to $1 billion projects, we are committed to safe, quality construction. Skanska’s general contracting resources enable us to meet the most demanding schedules. Through our expansive network of skilled construction professionals, we can self-perform work in areas as diverse as New York City, the Atlantic coast, the Pacific Northwest, the Rocky Mountain region and the suburbs of Los Angeles. Our market sectors include general building, rail, power plants, water pollution control plants, bridges, roadways and environmental remediation. By self-performing the majority of work, we are able to better control the quality and schedule to meet our client’s needs.
Design-Build
In 1989, Skanska became one of the first construction firms to offer the advantages of design-build construction to our clients. Since then, we have been awarded numerous turnkey design-build contracts, including site selection analysis and configuration and some of the largest transportation systems built in the United States. Skanska’s design-build expertise extends to our private client’s needs for world-class facilities that are delivered on-time and on-budget. As a leader of the consortium that constructed JFK’s AirTrain Light Rail System, one of the nation’s first billion dollar design-build-operate-maintain, (DBOM) projects, we have a proven track record of successful design-build project delivery.
Pre-construction
The pre-construction phase defines the project's character and is one of the most critical stages in the life of a project. To be an effective component of the overall project delivery plan, the pre-construction process must expand beyond the traditional estimating exercise. Skanska's pre-construction teams include both pre-construction and construction professionals, who collaborate to define the overall construction approach, schedule and purchasing methodology, which directly impact cost.
Pharmaceutical Validation
The Skanska Pharmaceutical Group (SPG) extends traditional construction management services to its worldwide pharmaceutical and biotech clients by assisting them in the commissioning, qualification and validation of their facilities. Our regulatory and good practice know-how, combined with our risk management experience, helps clients to achieve the most cost-effective compliance. We excel in project execution and serve as your strategic partner.
Self-Performance
Our self-performance capabilities uniquely position us to deliver complex, quality projects on time and within budget. Our extensive knowledge of our clients’ policies and procedures as well as local labor forces gives us the ability to control varying aspects of the project including areas that are sub-contracted. Our hands-on, proven management processes and experienced superintendents have led to the successful completion of numerous high-profile projects nationwide.
Public-Private Partnerships
Skanska Infrastructure Development, a world leader in privately developed public infrastructure projects, is now applying its international strengths in Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) to the U.S. market. Working primarily in the transportation sector, we are partnering with governments and state authorities to develop sustainable assets that deliver long-term benefits to the communities they serve and provide vital yet unfunded infrastructure to move people and commerce.
