Skanska was selected as the Design-Build General Contractor for Education First’s (EF) new North American Headquarters Building. The EF project includes approximately 261,727-SF of general office, educational and restaurant space and approximately 64,700-SF devoted to above-grade structured parking for 125 vehicles, for a building total of 326,427-SF. Approximately 30,000-SF of public space on the ground and second floors, including a 14,000-SF, 440-seat restaurant with outdoor seating, will be incorporated into the project. Additional public spaces will include a meeting room and gathering area, a winter garden, and landscaped and hardscape spaces that will be integrated into the building and nearby parkland. Approximately 31,000-SF of outdoor space is available to parkland users or any other visitors.
The project is a key development parcel in the City of Cambridge and will be an energy-efficient building with signature architectural elements and commitments to substantial public benefits that integrates the project site with the passive and active recreation amenities associated with North Point Park.
The project will enhance public access to the Charles River basin, facilitate new permanent and construction-related job opportunities, and continue EF’s substantial transportation demand management (TDM) program to reduce single occupancy vehicle trips and promote the use of alternatives modes of transit.
