Skanska renovated the Roosevelt Avenue/7th Street Station Complex for New York City Transit. The $87 million project included ensuring the station is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The scope of the project included: · reconstruction of all architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical and communications elements · reconstruction of transfer passageways and stairs, including reconfiguration of the Interborough Rapid Transit mezzanine· extensive reorganization of station areas for ADA compliance· relocation of signals and fiber-optic communications cables· installation of photovoltaic electrical generation panels and communications systems, including signals and fiber-optic cable relocation· reconfiguration of a 75 foot long, 42-inch diameter sewer siphon· relocation of a 90 foot long, 24-inch diameter sewer main in order· expansion of the 73rd Street passageway from 12 feet to 28 feet· relocation of stairwellsvstructural and water remedy repairs to the deteriorated station components· installation of architectural treatments to the station floors, walls, stairs and ceilings throughout the complex· reconstruction of the Interborough Rapid Transit mezzanine, underpass and platform canopiesThe project was completed while vehicular and train traffic continued to operate with minimal disruption from construction activities.
