Expansion and renovation of Terminal 4 at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. Consisted of the existing Baggage Make-up Unit Area to be converted into an EDS Screening Area to relocate EDS screening machines located in the airline ticketing area, giving the airlines more space for ticketing and making the baggage screening and loading operations-friendly. In order to renovate the existing baggage make-up area, a 10,000-SF “H” shaped canopy with two large baggage make-up area conveyors was built in order to accommodate all airline in the international terminal. The second phase of work consisted of a 3-story building expansion, including demo and erection of a new stair tower, renovation and build-outs. The expansion will include the Federal Inspection Services (FIS) areas, passenger queuing, Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Airline Ticket Offices (ATO), carrier spaces, BCAD office spaces and incorporation of EDS system, new baggage make-up equipment, new business technology area and other support areas. The project originally required a DBE participation goal of 25%, however the project predecessors committed to a DBE goal of 29%.
