Skanska has a culture of giving back to the communities in which we build. Throughout the year our team donates time, supplies and hands on help to strengthen our community and assist those who need it most. Some of our community activities include:
Rebuilding Together – National Rebuilding Day
Skanska Volunteers got hands-on, renovating the homes and gardens of low-income residents across Alexandria.
CANstruction & Food Bank Drive
CANstruction hosts competitions for building structures made entirely out of canned food. Following exhibition, all cans are donated to local hunger relief organizations.
DCBIA Community Improvement Day
Skanska volunteers improved the hardscapes and landscaping, installed new equipment and performed maintenance at Dwight A. Mosley Sports Complex.
The Salvation Army Angel Tree
The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program provides less fortunate families the opportunity to experience the holiday. Each year, Skanska “adopts” several families throughout the area, gathering and distributing personalized gifts.
Skanska prepare and serve dinner at Carpenter’s Shelter at Christmas time. The shelter supports the homeless to achieve sustainable independence. In addition to shelter and food, it provides guidance, education and advocacy.
