Amie Kromis- O’Riley
Diversity & Inclusion coordinator- Dallas, Texas

What is the purpose of the National D&I Council?
The NDIC serves as a vehicle to advocate and advance diversity and inclusion throughout our business, our people, and the communities in which we work.

What accomplishment of the NDIC are you most proud of?
Our national commitment to the ACE Mentor Program is extremely powerful. I’ve had the privilege of serving as a mentor to one of the high school teams as they complete their projects throughout the school year to compete for scholarship money. I’ve also been able to see the impact of Skanska’s investment in the ACE Mentor Program. I’ve worked with a colleague who participated in the ACE Mentor Program during high school and received scholarships for college. She interned at Skanska throughout her undergraduate career and has been working with Skanska full-time since her graduation. Introducing and engaging high school students to the fields of architecture, construction and engineering allows Skanska to truly nurture and impact the emerging workforce.

How do you see the NDIC impacting the company in the future?
I am anxious to see the fruits of our labor concerning work-life balance in our demanding industry. As younger generations want to do their job well while also unapologetically spending more time with their family, Skanska can become an industry leader in providing supportive work environments. What’s even more refreshing is to hear and see our leadership working towards solving this topic.
